Albert Clinton Horton (1798-1865), the first lieutenant governor of Texas, moved to Texas from Alabama in the spring of 1865. Before coming to Texas, Horton served as a State Representative in Alabama (1829-1830, 1833-1834). An early supporter of the Texas Revolution, Horton returned to Alabama in 1835 to recruit army volunteers, creating the Mobile Grays.
